Mindy also has some new things to share about her new show, The Mindier Show!
The Mindiest Thing You Can Do for the Weekend Mindy, what is it like to be the star of one of the most watched shows on TV, and what is the best way to get your kids engaged?
I think for me, it’s really exciting.
It’s a big, big deal.
It really means something to be on the air.
It feels like it’s been an absolute dream come true.
It means so much to me.
And I know there’s so many people who have been like, “Yeah, you’re on the cover of PEOPLE,” or, “Mindy, we saw you in the ads,” and they’re just like, Wow, what a fantastic role!
And for the most part, that’s just great, because it means a lot to people who haven’t seen it before.
What are some of the challenges that you faced in getting your show to this point?
I was really nervous.
I had to really think about my character, who is a really smart, intelligent woman, and how to get her to be honest about what she’s going through.
I really had to work on my lines.
I also had to get my mind around the fact that she’s doing this for the sake of her kids.
And you can’t really be honest to yourself, because you’re playing a mother who is struggling with this.
But she’s also a very vulnerable, sweet, loving woman.
And so I had a lot of fun with that.
It was hard, but it was also very exciting.
You’re playing someone who’s trying to figure out what she wants out of life.
And it was an interesting challenge because, as a parent, you have these really important things to do.
But also, as an actress, you’ve got these huge responsibilities.
And what’s really challenging about that is, you know, what do I want my kids to grow up to do?
You know, I know what I want them to do, but I’m not sure what my role is in that.
So you have to think about what you want them for their entire lives.
I was like, How am I going to get there?
So that’s one of my favorite challenges of all time, because I was able to just think about it and see how far I can take it.
It kind of got to the point where it was just so much fun to just write a song and have my kids come up with lyrics and do that.
What’s it like doing The Mindiness Show?
It’s so fun.
I’m a huge fan of The Mindypants and The Mindies.
I grew up on the shows.
I watch a lot.
It makes me really happy.
But the other thing I love is, when we go on the set, it feels like a different show.
It can feel like we’re in an old school diner with the old folks, or in the back of a bus with old people.
It takes you back to a different time.
It brings you back into a different world.
I think you’re more comfortable as a mother when you’re a mother.
I’ve found that with Mindy.
I love when she’s in front of the camera, I love it when she has this space to be herself.
But I also love that she just goes, “Oh, you guys are great, you don’t know how wonderful you are.”
I mean, she’s a really amazing actress, but there’s a certain level of vulnerability, there’s something very human about her.
I can see her, when she walks into a room, I can just feel that she has that vulnerability and that humanity that she can be really vulnerable to.
How much of that comes from having grown up with The Mindys?
We grew up with a really strong family.
My father is my favorite person, and he taught me so much about life.
We’ve been really lucky in our lives.
My mom has always been the best at everything, so when she came to me, she just wanted to be like, Let’s go.
I said, I want to do this show.
And she said, You know what?
You should come to my house and do a movie.
So we were like, We’ll do that!
And I’m just a really happy person to be a mom to.
And my kids are so grateful that I have them.
How do you feel about the show itself?
I love The Mindie Show, but for me it’s about the journey.
You can’t have it all.
And that’s a hard thing to do as a mom.
You’ve got to have these adventures.
You have to make a career
